  • Western Kiribati's weather is governed chiefly by the seasonal movements of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the equatorial doldrum belt (EDB). Winds between north-east and south-east prevail throughout the year. During the drier months of the year (June to November) south-easterlies are more frequent than usual, while winds between north and east prevail during the wetter part of the year, from December to May.
