Covers the period 30 May 1857 - 16 August 1857.First pages include drawings of sounding instruments and log notes ' armament landed to make room for sounding operations'. Log notes kept by the Officers of the Watches and by Mr Scott, Master and apt. Surveyor. Gives position, wind direction and force, pressure, temperature, cloud type and amount weather (beaufort letters) and remarks - these give details of the sounding operations.
