  • Climatological Station. Castle Bank, Appleby. Formerly a Royal meteorological Society site.  Correspondence regarding the Met Office taking over the site in 1930. Tables of corrections to instruments 1936. Inspects Reports and Notebooks 1930 and 1936.  1947 Letter from the observer, Lady Holmes, to say that her house has been requisitioned  "as I am now 74 it is unlikely that I shall ever be able to live at Castle Bank again. It is indeed a tragedy for me". Notice of Cessation 1947.
