Description:
- Made in the UK by Negretti and Zambra, London. Used to measure atmospheric pressure by means of an element attached to a spring by two metal posts and locked into position by two small bars. As the atmospheric pressure varies the force on the spring will alter. A lever attached to the top of the spring then moves and this usually drives the pointer. The instrument has a circular brass case with a clear bevelled glass face. The face is white with a black scale, in centibars and inches and appears to be made of card, the pointers are metal. The face has the makers name, Negretti and Zambra, London and a serial number of 3685, it also has "Land barometer" printed upon the card. This aneroid barometer was made for the Meteorological Office and has the serial number, MO No. 5006.
