Description:
- Used to measure atmospheric pressure by means of an element attached to a spring by two metal posts and locked into position by two small bars. As the atmospheric pressure varies the force on the spring will alter. A lever attached to the top of the spring then moves and this usually drives the pointer. The instrument has a circular black case with a clear bevelled glass face. The face is white with a black scale in millibars. The pointer is metal and in poor condition. Meteorological Office serial number, 2/28/34/41. No makers name is on the dial (RAE indicates that it was used at Royal Aircraft Establishment) but its most likely to have been made by Short & Mason.
