Description:
- Meteorological Office Pilot-Balloon Slide Rule, Mk5 made by Blundell Harling Ltd. of Weymouth, England. Used by the Meteorological Office to calculate the wind velocity from theodolite readings made with pilot-balloon observations. The slide rule is white with the scales in black. The centre moveable piece has two metal knobs to help with sliding the centre piece. It has the Meteorological Office MO logo, with a reference number 29550. It also has MO serial number of 4013/68. Instructions for the use of the slide rule are in paper in the box. The box is of pale wood with brass hinges and fasteners. The box is lined with green baize.
